James Cecil OLIPHANT

James Cecil, born November 29, 1920, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, passed away December 14, 2004 at Menno Hospital, Abbotsford, BC after a courageous, lengthy struggle with Progressive Supra-Nuclear Palsy.

He was predeceased by his brother Jack and sisters Beatrice Whalen and Marjorie Davis. He is survived by his wife Gertrude, nee Wiedeman; daughters Carol Fisher of Denver, Colorado, Janet Gates (Cormack) of Calgary, Alberta; son John of Vancouver, BC; grandchildren Skya Richardson (Ray), Sydney Fisher, Daniel and Matthew Gates; and a sister Mildred Cole of Calgary, Alberta.

He served as captain with the Three Rivers Tank Regiment in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland. In 1980 Jim sold his insurance agency in St. Alberta, Alberta and retired to BC where he enjoyed golfing, gardening and travelling.
