May 13, 1961 – May 20, 2019
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jagjit Singh Baidwan. He was taken from us unexpectedly on Monday, May 20 at the age of 58. Jagjit was born on May 13, 1961 in Chanarthal Kalan, Punjab, India to the late Amrao Singh Baidwan and Manjit Kaur Baidwan. He is predeceased by his brother Daljit Singh Baidwan (Satwinder).
Jagjit was a selfless family man who always had a smile on his face. He spent his life as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Gurmeet Kaur Baidwan. He was extremely proud of his two sons Jag (Mandy) and Inder, daughter Bindy, and granddaughter Kennedy. Kennedy’s entrance added immense happiness to his already joyful life. Those who were lucky enough to know him, will remember his generosity, kindness, and infectious laugh.
Jagjit grew up in India spending his time as an enthusiastic bhangra dancer and avid Kabadi fan.
He came to Canada in 1986 shortly after getting married, where he started a beautiful family.
Jagjit briefly worked at a nursery, before dedicating 30 years of his life to the transport industry as a truck driver. He loved travelling to different cities and sharing stories of the sights he had seen.
He was extremely proud of his roots in India and visited annually to reconnect with family and friends.
He was a spiritual man, who was well respected in the Sikh community. Jagjit devoted his time and service at Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Jagjit was loved by everyone he met and had a unique ability to connect with strangers. He had an irreplaceable sense of humour and always made everyone laugh. We will miss his endless phone calls, his enthusiasm for basketball, and his infinite positive energy. He was a pillar in our family and his loss will leave a large void in our hearts. However, we will cherish the memories that we were blessed to create with him forever.
Funeral services will be held in his honor on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Fraser River Funeral Home (2061 Riverside Rd., Abbotsford, BC). Service will commence at 12:30 pm. Prayer service will follow at the Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (8820 168 St., Surrey, BC).
