November 13, 1923 - May 12, 2019
Jagir Singh Bathe passed away peacefully at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on May 12, 2019.
Arriving in Canada in 1959 with his wife and their son, it took ten years of hardship and struggle in North Vancouver before they were able to buy their first farm in the Fraser Valley. Farming quickly became a way of life and Jagir managed to build a successful agriculture business in Abbotsford and Lynden, WA. Although he spent most of his life in Canada, he never forgot his roots in Punjab, India and loved to go back as much as possible. He touched a lot of lives in his village by donating the land to build a school and his legacy will live on through those children and their education. In his final few years, Jagir found solace playing with his great-grandkids and reminiscing about his life. We will remember his work ethic, laughter, curiosity, and of course his fist pumps.
Jagir was predeceased by his wife Pritam Kaur. He is survived by his son Rajinder (Jas), his daughter Rita (Manjit), his grandkids Nisha (Nav), Ravi (Amanda), Anita (Manjot), Sandy (Paul), Suneil, and his five great-grandchildren.
