Ivy 'Gwen' Gregorig

February 29, 2020

April 13, 1919 - February 29, 2020
On our leap year day, February 29th, 2020, Ivy "Gwen" Gregorig left this world, just shy of her 101st birthday. She is survived by her youngest brother John, her son Chris, four grandchildren and all of their spouses, children and extensive families from her 100 year legacy. She is reunited with husband Arthur, son, Rick, two great grandchildren and many other loved ones to welcome her home.
Gwen was born April 13, 1919. She emigrated from England to Canada in 1963 with her husband Arthur and two boys. She became a hairdresser and owner of several shops from Port Hardy to Sidney. At the age of 65 she became a realtor, was named "Rookie of the Year" and later a "Life Master Associate". She took up watercolour painting, taught art classes, helped found the Abbotsford Watercolour Society and was a recognized artist by the Federation of Canadian Artists. Gwen nominated as business Woman of the Year in Abbotsford and received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Abbotsford Art Council.
Gwen was a true Matriarch; loved by her family, and her many friends, young and old. What kept her young at heart and sharp of mind, is she would tell that you must always be curious and continue to learn. In keeping with this, Gwen donated her body to science so that the learning continues.
Gwen was a light in the world - one that will shine on brightly forever in the lives of all who knew her.
