Irwin (Irv) Isaac Redekop of Abbotsford, BC passed peace- fully into the presence of the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2016 surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer which he fought valiantly to the end. He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Warkentin, his wife of 59 years, daughters Shelby (Bill) Slater, Kimberly (Dave) Sieben, Holli Redekop (Millree Williams), son Christopher (Carla) Redekop and his sister Elaine Hatch. Irv was born on July 26, 1937 in Hafford, Saskatchewan to Isaac and Nettie Redekop and the family moved to BC in 1947. In the 1980s, he worked as a commercial realtor and in 1998 he returned to the car business, with brother-in-law Bill Warkentin, at the wholesale division of VIP Mazda. Irv was known for his outgoing, cheerful, caring and positive attitude. He was deeply committed to his Christian faith, serving God during his entire adult life. Irv is mourned by his wife, children and his eight grandchildren, Andrew Slater, Courtney (Thom) Peters, Brandon Sieben, Sydne Williams, Victoria Sieben, Nathan Redekop and Kristen Redekop and many nieces, nephews, dear friends and colleagues. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care of doctors Tobert, Zulfiqar, Sia and Chris and the kindness of the staff at the Abbotsford Palliative Unit. A Memorial Service was held at South Abbotsford MB Church on Thursday, November 10th.
