Known as Irma to all who loved her, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2018 in Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
Irma was predeceased by daughter Liana Veronica, sisters Anna Lemmle and Hulda, brother Alfred, parents Adolf and Olga.
Survived by husband Artur, sister Ida Jager of Edmonton, brother Bernhard (Frieda) Kowalski of Erkelenz Germany, son David Schmidt, daughter Sonya (Shawn) Wood, grandchildren Alexander and Natasha Wood of Abbotsford; also daughter-in-law Debbie Freemantle Schmidt, grandsons Dylan and Daniel Schmidt of Vancouver Island, grandson Mitchell Schmidt and his mother Peggy Andruchow of Prince George, and extended family in Germany and Canada.
Irma was born in Mentlew, Poland in 1940. In 1953 she journeyed with her parents from Altendorf, Germany to Edmonton, Alberta as refugees. By age 18 Irma was living on her own in Chilliwack, BC.
In 1958 Irma married Artur in Toronto. They enjoyed almost 60 years together.
