FENDER, Irene (nee Reimche)

Early on January 13, 2010, our wonderful Mom, Irene Fender, slipped quietly into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, which is "better by far" (Phil. 1:23). Irene was born April 30, 1922 at Woodrow, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter, sister Gladys and brother Raymond.

Irene is lovingly remembered by her family: daughters, Berniece Fender, Bev Gordon (Wayne) and Marj Thorp (Jim), grandchildren James Gordon (Cheryl), Kimberly Sotski (Mike), Andrew Thorp (Jocelyn), Adam Thorp (Erica) and great-grandchildren Ryan, Harley, Leila and Chloe. Irene is also survived by her siblings: Olive Westerlund (Earl), Marcella Priebe (Roy), Violet Ellingson (Al), Isabel Gogal (Riennie) and Don Reimche (Ruth). Irene and Walter Fender served for 25 years on staff at Briercrest Bible College at Caronport, Saskatchewan. In 1970 they moved to Surrey, B.C.They were active members of Surrey Alliance Church and Irene worked in Dietary at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Several years after Walter's death in 1981, Irene moved to Abbotsford where she lived the last 20 years of her life. Irene found a warm church home at Sevenoaks Alliance with many wonderful friends. We are deeply grateful to the staff at Normanna Rest Home who cared so well for Mom in her final months. Irene's life was marked by deep faith in God's promise that Jesus Christ gives eternal life to all those who by faith receive him as their Lord and Saviour. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made for the benefit of Haitian Earthquake victims. A Memorial Celebration will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 23 at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Rd., Abbotsford, B.C
