Silver, Imelda "Millie" Theresa
(nee: Phillips). Millie Silver lost her battle to cancer on September 3rd at Cascade Hospice at the age of 74 years. Born in Harrison Mills, BC to Nancy and William Phillips on December 8th, 1937, she spent her childhood in Chehalis and went to school in Mission. She graduated from St. Mary's in 1957. Millie married Erich Schmidbauer in 1959 and was blessed with 5 children. She was later married to Ray Silver in 1989. She was a strong cultural and spiritual leader in the community and gave of herself heartily to pass on traditional teachings. She leaves a strong legacy and a loving family.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Silver; children Bill (Alison), Tony (Lisa), Deanna (Luke), Donna (John), Rob (Trena), Louise (Nick), Janet, Kathy, Verna (Dan), Bernice (David), Ray, Janice, Ambrose (Joan), John (Diana), Edna, Paula (Owen); 68 loving grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and 2 brothers and 3 sisters along with their families. She was predeceased by her parents Nancy and William Phillips, 6 brothers, 1 sister, and her first husband Erich Schmidbauer. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, September 7th at Sumas First Nation Longhouse.
