March 1, 1933 - October 22, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce that Ida passed away on October 22, 2020.
Ida was predeceased by her mom, Mary Benson, her brothers Ken and Bob Benson, and her son Edward Plichta. She is survived by brothers John and Bill Benson, daughter-in-law Kelly (Edward) Plichta, daughter Patricia (Jim) van den Ende, daughter Renee Plichta, son Gordon (Cindy) Plichta, daughter Ninette (David) Chretien, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Born in Fort Frances, Ontario on March 1, 1933, Ida moved at a young age with her parents to Alberta and BC. She eventually moved back to Ontario with her mom and brothers.
Ida married John Plichta and raised five kids in Fort Frances. Eventually, she found herself moving back west to the Yukon and then finally settling in BC.
Ida touched the lives and hearts of so many. She loved people and being involved. She was a senior member of the Yevshan Ukrainian Cultural Society for many years. Ida lost her sight in 2005, but that did not slow her down.
She was incredibly independent and capable of managing her day-to-day tasks and anything else that came along!
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date due to COVID-19 protocol.
