Ida Eleanor BAKER

May 17, 2005

Ida Eleanor passed away peacefully at MSA Hospital on May 17, 2005 in her 80th year. Ida was born on August 10, 1924 in Tullemet, Saskatchewan to Jacob and Emilie Seip. She was baptized and confirmed in Saskatchewan at the Lutheran Church. On Feb 26, 1944, Ida married Otto William Baker at Zion Lutheran Church in Cloverdale. They had 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Together they lived at their farm in Aldergrove for 44 years. In 1988 they sold their farm and moved to Abbotsford.

Ida delighted in caring for her family and found much joy in spending time with them. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always making special treats like homemade bread, cinnamon buns and matrimony cake and teaching us how to make her special recipes, creating homemade treasures and singing to us. Mom loved to sing! Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening, singing and baking. She will be remembered by her warm, nurturing heart and for the love and support she gave to all of her family and friends.

Ida was predeceased by her loving husband Otto; her parents; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She will be greatly missed by her 5 children: George (Jacquie) Baker of Aldergrove, Garnet (Ruby) Baker of Abbotsford, Gary (Marlene) Baker of Westbank, Darlene (Brian) Albertson of Abbotsford and Deloris (Bob) Coghill of Abbotsford; 12 grandchildren: Bev (Les) Zacharias, Lance (Teresa) Baker. Leanna (Russell) Ridgeway, Theresa (Tim) LeHay, Thomas (Erin) Baker, Taryn (Eli) Kaylor, Trevor Baker, Kyle (Mary-Lyn) Baker Trista (Edward) Cooper, Tanya (Dave) Horkai, Brent (Lianna) Coghill and Steven Baker; 11 great-grandchildren: Alexa Zacharias, Cameron Zacharias, Maia LeHay, Adam LeHay, Liam Baker, Colton Baker, Noah Baker, Tina Ridgeway, Jessica Ridgeway, Jaden Ridgeway and Jordan Ridgeway; sister: Martha Houchen of White Rock and brother Albert Seip of Regina, SK as well as many other relatives and friends.

Ida loved the Lord and we as a family find great comfort in knowing that she is with our heavenly Father. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has shown their love and support. May God bless you all.
