April 7, 1933 - July 3, 2018
Following a long and persevering battle with various forms of heart disease, Hugo Schmidt passed to his eternal reward on July 3rd 2018 at the Abbotsford General Hospital. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Malinda Schmidt (Janz) and his youngest daughter, Denise Erickson. He is survived by his brother Henry Schmidt, sister Anne Thiessen, daughter Betty Lou Godard, son Roger Schmidt and nine grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed. He was a loving and steadfast father, grandfather and friend. He was kind, and generous and someone who always thought of others. He had a great love for God and was passionate about following and serving Him as was evidenced by his prayer life, his concerns for people and his service in ministries including those at Northview Community Church.

Hugo was the second youngest of seven children and was born on April 7, 1933 in Kamyanka, Ukraine. He immigrated to Canada in 1948, became a citizen in 1955 and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1956. He married Malinda (Janz) on June 22, 1957.  They lived and started their family in Regina, Saskatchewan, then moved to the Lower Mainland of BC where he resided and continued in various outreaches until his passing.

Viewing for extended family will be held on July 11 at 7:00 pm.

A celebration of his life will be held on July 12th at Northview Community Church, 32040 Downes Road, Abbotsford, BC at 1:00 pm with refreshments to follow.

Absent from the body present with the Lord, Hallelujah.
