PALECEK, HILDA ELLA

Hilda Palecek, 90, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2008 at Menno Hospital in Abbotsford, B.C. 4 1/2 years after suffering a major stroke. Hilda was a long time resident of Maple Ridge, B.C. She was born in the small farm town of Southey, Saskatchewan on July 6, 1918. After the war she moved to Vancouver and on Valentine's Day, 1952 married Rudolph Palecek of Beausejour, Manitoba. The couple soon moved to the small town of "Haney" (now Maple Ridge) where they remained and raised their family.

Hilda's husband, Rudolph, predeceased her in 1985 after 33 years of marriage. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her son and two daughters and their families: Son Timothy (Debbie) of Mission, B.C., grand-children Christopher (Tami) and great grandson Kai; Michael (Miriam) and great grandson Nikolai; and Jennifer. Daughter Roberta (Richard) Burns of Carnation, WA, grand- children Jared (Beth), Suzanna (David) Gill, Daniel, and Kristen. Daughter Cindy (Daniel) Goerzen of Chilliwack, B.C.; grand-children Christy (Joshua) Robertson, Tara (Jim) Travis, and Chay. Hilda was predeceased by her parents Harry and Ella McIlmoyl, and brothers, Alvin, Arnold, Edward, Fredrick, and Donald. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday November 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at the Maple Ridge Baptist Church, 22155 Lougheed Hwy, Maple Ridge B.C. Luncheon to follow.
