Jul 21, 1928 - Feb 23, 2018
Herman passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Feb 23 with his family by his side.

Herman was born in Main Centre Saskatchewan to Johann and Katherina Siemens. After graduating from High School and Bible school in Herbert he corresponded with Martha Quiring who he had met in a strawberry field in Abbotsford. They were married on Nov 15, 1953. After one year in Saskatchewan they moved to Vancouver where he worked in a plywood mill while building their own house.

In 1960 they purchased a dairy farm in Abbotsford. Eventually they transitioned the farm from dairy to hogs. He continued to be involved in the Farm as his children added a berry enterprise and then apples and pumpkins. Until recently he could be found at the Farm cultivating a field, fixing a tire, or building a display shelf for the Farm store.

Besides farming, he loved woodworking, spending time with his family, and traveling, having visited over 50 countries. He was a longtime member of South Abbotsford Church where he served in various ministries over the years. Together with Martha they facilitated the DivorceCare program which he had a special passion for.

Herman is survived by his wife Martha, his son Murray (Cheryl), daughter Shelley (Mike), and grandchildren; Matt (Casey), Nate (Christy), Chris, Kelsey, Jordyn (Bobby) great grandchildren Avery and Kaydence.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Sat, March 3 at South Abbotsford Church 32424 Huntington Rd.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holmberg House Hospice at www.abbotsfordhospice.org
