Henry, a husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, friend and pastor passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord with the family at his side on January 19, 2008 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gertrud; 5 children: Wilf (Cristine), Margita (Jake Bergen), Rosie (Werner Friesen), Karoline (Gerry MacIntyre), Frank (Gabby); 11 grandchildren; his dad Peter; 3 brothers: Rudolf (Elfriede), Gerd (Almut), Theo (Nellie); 1 sister Hildi (Theo Neufeldt) and sister-in-law Helen Loewen and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother Anna Loewen and brother Hans Loewen.
Born November 8, 1934 in Filadelphia, Paraguay, he moved to Canada in November 1967. Besides being a loving husband, amazing dad, loyal son and brother, he was an exemplary servant of Jesus Christ whom he loved and served with passion. He was a man of God, an inspiration and a blessing to those whose lives he touched. He enjoyed life to the fullest and had many hobbies including many outdoor activities (especially fishing), and playing pool.
We will miss him dearly … but will find comfort and inspiration in the memories that he has left us with.
Viewing will be held at King Road Church on Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. A celebration of Henry's life will be held at King Road MB Church on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11:30 am. (Graveside service at Maclure Cemetery at 10:00 am).
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully acknowledges donations in honour of Henry's great passion to teach others to follow Christ, through King Road Church Missions.
