APPELDOORN, Henry (Hank)

November 12, 1942 - April 22, 2017


Born in Maarn Netherlands, Hank passed away at the ARHCC after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 74. Predeceased by his first wife Louise, parents William & Heintje, brothers Bill, Joe and JW Appeldoorn and brother-in-law Cyril Eden.

Hank is survived by Pauline, his loving wife of 24 years. Brother Gerry (Sharon) Appeldoorn, sisters Gerda (Bob) Phillips and Eefie Eden. Sisters-in-law Karin, Shirley and Pasita Appeldoorn.


Children Linda (Jim) Kasper, Ron (Brenda) Appeldoorn, Mike (Michelle) Appeldoorn. Grandchildren, Brad (Amanda) Kasper, Brian (Laura) Kasper, Jennifer (Richard) Kuhn, Cameron, Kurtis, Tyson, Krystal and Allison Appeldoorn. Great grandchildren Nathan, Ava, Emma and Savannah Kasper. Dominic and Jackson Kuhn.

Extended family Randy Jacobs, Paula (Russ) Janus, Pam Jacobs, Bill (Elizabeth) Jacobs. Grandchildren Jesse, Colton and Kaylie Bird, Aaron and Dustin Janus, William and Markus Jacobs.


After immigrating to Canada with his family at the age of 6, Hank lived in Terrace BC for 6 years before they settled in the Peardonville area of Abbotsford in 1954. A respected member of the community, Hank was a carpenter by trade. Together with his business partner and brother-in-law, Cyril Eden, they've left their mark in

Abbotsford and Mission, successfully developing many properties and building homes from the late 1960's to the late 1980's. Hank was also a member and captain of the Abbotsford Auxiliary Fire Department for many years.


Hank was very proud of his wonderful blended family. He was a hardworking, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he will be missed by many.


A celebration of life will be held at Bethel Reformed Church, 3260 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford on Saturday April 29th at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
