July 26, 1924 - January 15, 2020
Henk Vos was born on July 26, 1924 and grew up in Groningen, The Netherlands. Although he grew up in the city, he had no aspirations to live there, but always wanted to be a farmer. He started working for a farmer when he was 18, shortly after World War II started. In order to avoid being forced to work for the German army, he stayed in hiding in the country. Once the war was over, he realized that there was no chance to get his own farm in Holland, so he moved to Canada in 1952. He eventually settled in Lacombe, AB, where he met and married Mary Prins. In 1965 they moved to BC where he bought his own farm in Matsqui. There they raised their five children.
Over the years, Henk was involved in the Abbotsford Christian School, helping to get the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store started and volunteering in New Mexico. After his wife died, after 56 years of marriage, he was blessed to find another soul mate in Ann Maas. They were married almost 8 years and felt blessed to share each day they had together. The most important things to him were his faith and his family. He often talked about how thankful he was. His presence will be missed, but we rejoice that he is now in the presence of the Lord.

Henk is survived by his wife Ann Maas, and his children, Linda (Bud) Dykshoorn, Gary Vos (Renita Vos), Susan (Brian) DeSchiffart, Diane (Todd) Buiten, Raymond Vos, along with 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and by Dao (Nhan) Tran and their family. He is also survived by Ann's children, Diana (Joe) Milankovics, Bob (Anne) Maas, Lynda (Sieg) Fast and their families.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 23 at 2 pm at the Oasis building in Elim Village, 9025 160 Street, Surrey, BC.
