Helena (Berg) Wiebe known to her friends and family as Helen passed into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the MSA Hospital at the age of 84 years and 3 months. Helen ws born in Manitoba on April 4, 1920 to Diedrich and Susanna Berg. The family moved to Hague, Sask. when Helen was still in school, here she finished her education and worked many long hours in the Pool Elevator that her father operated, as well as helping on the farm. It was on the farm that she met her future husband Peter – they were married on June 29, 1941. After 16 years of marriage and 4 children, they moved to B.C. Helen loved to work with her hands and as long as she was able, she was always doing some handwork, either knitting, crocheting or embroidery. Another thing she loved to do was cook for her family and friends.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by 4 children; Alfred (Sharon) Wiebe, Susan (Keith) Harrington, Dick Wiebe and Ed (Joan) Wiebe; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, July 12, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road. Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. from Maclure Road. Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m. from Grace Evangelical Bible church, 2087 McMillan Road. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully appreciated to Canadian Food for the Hungry or The Gideon’s.
