Long-time Abbotsford resident, Helen Sclar, peacefully left this world on June 6, 2007. As she takes her leave Helen wanted to express her heartfelt thanks, friendship and affection to her family, friends and people of her adopted community of Abbotsford.
Born on June 1, 1917 in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Helen moved, with her husband, to Abbotsford in the early 1950s. She is best remembered as the co-proprietor of JE Sclar Jewelers in downtown Abbotsford during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Helen and husband Jack loved Abbotsford and its people! Special thoughts go out to her church, chapter and those many bridge friends who provided so many great memories through the happy decades spent in Abbotsford.
The family would also like to take this opportunity to thank those many caregivers who added to Helen’s comfort so much during these past few years!
The Serranos, her grandson Nicholas, daughter Marcia and sons Benigno and John Sclar survive her. Numerous nieces and nephews and a dear sister-in-law also survive Helen.
The family plan a private memorial later. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Helen’s favorite charity, The Canadian Diabetes Association.
Grandma and Mom: The episodes of your life gave all who knew you incredible moments of joy, wonder and laughter! We’ll carry them with us, always, to act as a beacon to brighten our darkest days. Truly you are unique and will live within us forever!
