SCHMIDT Helen Dorothy. Helen Dorothy Schmidt was born April 4, 1919 in Rosthern, SK Canada to Herman Harry Stobbe, Stubbe, Stubbs and Katharina (Tena) Wall. The family seemed to be constantly moving. They lived in Borden, Saskatoon, Montana, North Dakota, Dallas OR, Bakersfield, Shafter California, Wembly AB, Clearbrook, Matsqui flats. In 1937 she married Willie Arthur Schmidt. Shortly after they attended Millar Bible School for 3 years. After joining Sudan Interior Mission they left for Ethiopia in 1951. Bill’s experience in construction meant starting many new stations. Helen served as hostess, bookkeeper, bookstore clerk, doctor’s assistant, dorm parent and personal evangelist. After retiring in 1976 they were involved at Central Heights Church and Helping Hands. After injuries sustained in a fall, she was admitted to hospital and passed away into the arms of Jesus whom she loved and served while in the Menno Hospital on January 5, 2012. She was pre-deceased by her parents, husband, Bill, in 2000, 3 brothers, Norman, Archie, Johnny, 1 sister, unnamed. She is survived by her son, Russ and 4 brothers: Herman, Fred, Ray, Allan.
