Helen, age 87, passed away Dec 23rd after a battle with dementia.
She was born Oct 3 1935 in Comox BC to Thomas and Winifred Isbister and raised on the family's farm on Denman Island.
She met the love of her life David McGowan at King Edward High School and they later married surrounded by friends and loved ones. Dave preceded her in death in 2015.
Helen is survived by son Tom (Debbie) and daughters Maureen (Tom) and Karen (John), by her grandchildren Kevin, Christine, Cami, Nicole and Craig, by her great grandchildren Jordan, Tyson, Charlotte and Theodore, by sisters Hazel and Merlie and brother Tom and by her many nieces and nephews...all of these she loved and touched deeply.
Helen's career with BCTel spanned many years and she was also a long time member of The Order of Eastern Star - many lifetime friendships were made through the time she spent there.
She loved to spend time in card shops searching and finding the perfect card for every occasion and her calendar on the kitchen wall was always filled with many birthday reminders.
Thank you to the staff at Heritage Village who provided excellent care for mom these last few years.
