It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of my dear wife, mother and life partner of 47 years.
Heather completed her schooling in Winnipeg, MB. Remembered as a top student, top track and field athlete and earned an athletic basketball scholarship to Queens University. Not an easy feat at 5' 2" in stature. Heather also excelled at tennis, 10 pin bowling and golf, winning numerous awards, tournaments and championships. Those that golfed with Heather will remember as they reached a par 3-hole, Heather would say "what time is it?" prompting the reply by fellow golfers "it's hole in one time!" She saw quite a number of aces over the years including 5 of her own.
Heather worked in food service at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg. She headed up two trial departments starting in Canada one being Meals on Wheels and the other being the Breast Milk program. Heather then returned to school at the U of M and completed some additional accreditation and applied these skills in human resources at the Riverview Health Center until retiring.
Heather also volunteered on a number of charities, associations and boards including at Ledgeview Golf Club. Heather and I moved to Abbotsford some 20 years ago where we enjoyed and lived until her passing after eventually succumbing a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Heather was predeceased by her mother Martha Fontaine, stepdad Ray Fontaine and brother Brian McDougall. Heather is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Kyle Robyn Pelletier, son-in-law Dan Pelletier and three grandchildren Nathan, Matthew and Brooke. She is also survived by her father Al McDougall and wife Phyllis, sister Shelley McDougall, beloved niece Crystal Taillefer, special cousin Bob LaFond as well as numerous aunts, uncles and additional nieces and nephews. Heather also leaves to mourn her many wonderful friends and neighbors both past and present.
The family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff that gave their all for Heather. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Crystal Gala Breast Cancer Foundation in Abbotsford. We will honor Heather's request with a private family celebration of life.
