Harry owned and operated several businesses in the retail home furnishings industry, in Abbotsford and Victoria BC, (1963-1995).After struggling with health issues since 1989, he retired from the business world on Aug 1, 1995. He was a member of Amnesty International, supported worthy causes, enjoyed reading, (especially the Christian Holy Bible), music and hymns, travelling with Avis when he was well, especially to Hawaii and long conversations about his favourite topics. Harry is predeceased by his parents; brother Dr. Robert Boese of Vancouver BC in 1985; sons Phillip in 1957 and Robin in 1968. Lovingly remembered by his wife Avis of Abbotsford BC; daughter Sarah (late Dr. Harold) Foster of Victoria BC; son Richard (Dixie) Boese of Surrey BC; daughter Phylis (John) Songhurst of Victoria BC; grandchildren; David, Christopher, Daniel, Michael, Ryan and Gabriel; great-grandchildren; Grant, Julianna and Kristy. Harry will be sadly missed by his brother Howard (Kay) Boese and his sister Betty (Rev. Howard) McPhee and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The following is the first stanza to one of Harry’s favourite hymns that he wanted to share;
“The Solid Rock”
My hope is built on nothing else
Than Jesus’ blood and
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.
Harry’s burial is by cremation and he will be laid to rest with his son Robin. A private family service is to be held at Royal Oak Burial Park, Victoria BC.
