September 26, 2004

“Today I signed off to rejoin my comrades in arms!”

Hans died peacefully without coming out of his coma, on Sunday, September 26, 2004 in Ridge Meadows Hospital, with his family by his side. His battle with cancer had finally ended.

Hans will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His is lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Trudi, his daughters Jennifer (David), Marina (John), and granddaughter Samantha, and his animal companions. Also by his brother Horst and sister Erika and their families in Germany.

Hans was a valued member of the community of Mission for many years. Over all the years since coming to this country his social conscience moved him to give back to his community through volunteer work. For many years he was involved with the Silverdale Hall and was its President. For sometime he chaired the Mission Citizen’s Ratepayers Association. For a number of years he was active in the Mission’s Citizen’s Patrol. In one Provincial election he served as Official Agent for the candidate of one of the parties. In one federal election he served in the same capacity for one of the candidates. In a few elections he worked for the provincial appointee on some provincial boards. He made two unsuccessful attempts for a position of Alderman for Mission.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, who made his stay comfortable. Dr.Milewski, Dr. Auersperg, Dr. MacDonald, Dr. Kotylak and Dr. Lam. Also, the nurses in ICU, Amanda, Diane, the two Maureens’, Jackie, Victoria, and Stacy.

A memorial service will be held on October 15, 2004 at 1:30pm in the Silverdale Community Center, 8760 McLean St. Silverdale.

Rev. Judith Stark will be officiating the ceremony. There will be a tea to follow.
