HANSON; Gwen (nee Ross)

Gwen passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2016 with her daughter Joanne (Robertson) at her side. Gwen will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family members, and longtime friends from Mission BC. She is predeceased by her loving husband Art Hanson (1927-2000). Gwen was born on May 25th, 1926 and grew up in New Westminster, BC where she met and married Art. They moved to Mission in the 1950s where Art began his career as a high school teacher and Gwen worked as an elementary school secretary. Both Gwen and Art were socially active members of the community in Mission, participating in the Kinsmen Club, enjoying square dancing and bridge, and entertaining friends and family at their summer trailer in Birch Bay, WA.
Gwen worshipped every Sunday at All Saints Church and was a dedicated member of the Anglican Church Women's group for many years. In 2012, Gwen moved from Mission to West Vancouver where she was well taken care of by the dedicated and loving staff at the Capilano Care Centre. A funeral service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church (33077 2nd Ave., Mission, BC) on Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 a.m. The service will be followed by a tea and lunch reception at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia or to All Saints Anglican Church.
