With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Gurdial was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband Gurdev Singh Brar, daughter Parmjit Kaur Brar and son-in-law Darshan Singh Gill.
She is survived by her brother Harjinder Singh Gill (Harpal), sister-in-law Surjit Kaur Mann, sister-in-law Parkash Kaur Sandhu (Tej) and loving children; Manjit Gill, Bellinder Brar (Kamaljit), Surinder Brar (Francesca), Sukhjeet Gill, Baljit Wilson (Doug), and Sukhvinder Brar (Laura).
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jerry (Michelle) Gill, Nicki Dix (Paul), Paul (Sim) Gill; Erin, Pam, Jason Brar; Michael (Samantha), Adam (Carman), Cecilia (Alex) Brar; Navi, Jassi, Gagan Gill; Daniel, Anna Wilson; Matt, Ben Brar; and four great grandchildren Autumn, Violet Dix, Ella Brar, Mason Gill.
Gurdial was born in Nathuwala, District Moga, in the province of Punjab, India. With the help of her father, in December 1959, Gurdial immigrated to Canada with her husband and three young children.
She very quickly got her family settled and established a loving home in the Fraser Valley, eventually welcoming four more children. Whether tending to her family, helping out at the Temple or working long days at various nurseries, canneries and farms, Gurdial always worked extremely hard and took pride in her accomplishments.
When they bought their farm, she worked alongside her husband each day and together they successfully ran their business. Upon retirement, Gurdial enjoyed spending time with family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren!
Granny's kitchen was always open and her delicious meals appreciated by all. Visits back to the village in India, puttering in their small garden, and taking very early morning walks with her husband kept her busy. She was pleased to be able to remain in the home that she and her husband built together.
Gurdial will always be remembered as a wonderful, loving, proud and determined woman who always thought of her family first. With her cheerful smile and kind heart, she will be missed.
Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Life will be planned when conditions allow for safe gatherings. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation.
