CASEBY; (George) Grant. January 5, 1929 ~ January 20, 2014. Grant Caseby passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord after a brief stay in Trillium at Bevan Village care home in Abbotsford, BC. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Anna (nee Dosso) of twenty eight years. His surviving or predeceased relatives are in the United Kingdom mostly in Scotland. Two surviving brothers are Ronald (Eveline) and Cyril (Gladys) as well as nieces and nephews. He is pre- deceased by his first wife Isobel (Cherry) in 1983; his father, Rev Alexander Caseby in 1991, his mother Wiliamina (MacFarlane) Caseby in 2002, his sister Margaret (Hansford) in 2002, and his twin brother Alexander (Sandy) in 2003. Grant was born in Malawi, Africa, a son of missionary Presbyterian parents, and grew up in Africa and Scotland. In 1963 he immigrated to Canada and much of his career worked as a heavy duty mechanic for British Columbia Highways Ministry in Richmond, BC. He was a devout Christian most of his life, active in three Presbyterian churches in BC. In his younger years he taught Sunday School at St. Andrews and St. Stephens in North Vancouver. Later he was an elder for 18 years at St. Columba in Vancouver. When Anna and Grant moved to Abbotsford they became a part of Calvin Church where Anna has been active as a pastoral visitor. He married Anna Dosso, a registered nurse in September 21, 1985, in Richmond, BC. In later years they lived in Abbotsford, BC, where two of Anna's sisters also resided. When still in good health, they enjoyed traveling with other seniors on sightseeing tours. Grant will be much remembered by the extended family members in Scotland and in southwestern British Columbia. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 1:30 pm at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2597 Bourquin Crescent East, Abbotsford with The Rev. Blair D. Bertrand officiating.
