In loving memory ~
With profound sorrow we announce the passing of our deeply beloved Father, Gordon Kyle Keith of Kamloops. He passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025 at the age of 90.
Dad was born to John (Jack) and Muriel Keith in Chilliwack, BC on December 7, 1934, where he was raised on the family farm on Prairie Central Road with his siblings Stan, Bob and Margaret.
He joined the RCAF in 1954 at the age of 20, doing his basic training in Guelph, Ontario, and then was posted in Gimley, Manitoba where he met the love of his life, Helen. They married in 1956 and started their life together in Winnipeg, MB. After the RCAF, they moved to Chilliwack, where Gordie worked for Abbotsford Air Services. In 1962 they moved to Aldergrove, where he started as a mechanic for Skyways, which eventually changed to Conair Aviation. He was promoted to Supervisor, Inspector, and finally Chief Inspector before he retired in 1990, and he and Helen moved to Lac La Hache to start another adventure. He opened "Gordie's Small Engine Repair Shop" which he worked at for a number of years, before he drove the Rural Route for Canada Post. While in Lac La Hache, they enjoyed fishing, and spending time at the cabin on Rail Lake. Many memories were made with family and friends over the years. In 2011 they made Kamloops their home.
He leaves behind his sister Margaret Ward of Abbotsford, and his daughters, Linda (Bob) Shields of Kamloops, Barb (Bart) Abercrombie of Chase, Donna (Len) Bourgeault of Kamloops, and Heather (John) Fehr of Saskatchewan, as well as 13 Grand Children and 10 Great Grand Children. Gordon was predeceased by Helen, his parents, brothers Stan and Bob, their wives and Great Grandson Charlie.
Dad was loved by everyone who knew him. He was well known for his one liners, and we will miss him every day.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 1:00pm at Schoenings Funeral Home at 513 Seymour St., Kamloops, BC. Tea to follow.
