ARMSTRONG, Gordon Wilson
June 9, 1927- March 13, 2010
Gordon passed away suddenly at home in Abbotsford with his wife, Leonora, at his side. Gordon was born in Manitoba and has resided in Abbotsford since 1976. During the 1950s Gordon worked in the HBM&S mine in Flin Flon. He followed this with a long career as a salesman and a manager with Eaton's in Manitoba and throughout BC. Gordon has defied the odds for the past 25 years, enjoying life to the full despite a pacemaker and diabetes. We would have loved to have him with us longer but he died as he would have liked, tinkering on his truck and talking with one of his sons on the speaker phone while his devoted wife fixed lunch in the kitchen. He was so happy to have visited over the past couple of weeks all of his great grandchildren, grandchildren, and most of his children and knew that all is well with all of his loved ones. Gordon is predeceased by his first wife of 60 years, Amy, and his beloved grandson, William. Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Leonora, and his 5 children: Lois (Dale), Bruce (Margaret), Alan (Patsy), Glen (Kathy) and Kate. Gordon is survived also by his 6 grandchildren: Barbara (David), Colin (Iva), Tim, Leah, Jachin, and Eric, and 4 great-grandchildren: Jane, Cole, Roxanna, and Oliver. Gordon felt blessed to have another well-loved family that survives him: his grown step-children Maria, Javier, Laura, Manuel, Nora and their families. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC Henderson's Funeral Home 604-854-5534
