MATTHEWS, Glenn Charles


Passed away September 23, 2011 in the arms of his loving wife Kate Beckett. Born in Victoria, BC on November 25, 1923. Glenn served as a Wireless Air Gunner in WWII, surviving 2 crashes in Wellingtons. For many years Glenn was the art Director for the Abbotsford News and for 25 years Glenn was the Art Director and Announcing Co- ordinator for the Abbotsford Airshow. A pilot, artist, teacher and master craftsman, Glenn lived a full life and kept his sense of humour to the end. He will be forever missed by his wife whose life was enriched by his ready smile, thoughtfulness and wisdom. He also leaves behind his sister Norma Boucher of NJ, half-sister Donna(Greig) Irvine of Delta, sons Terry(Joanne) of Abbotsford and Mike (Masha) of Springfield, Oregon, granddaughter Amanda(Tyler) of Mission and many friends.

No funeral by request. An informal gathering will be held at a later date. Donations, if desired, may be made to Hospice.
