WIENS, GERHARD PETER
Mr. Gerhard (George) Peter Wiens late of the Tabor Home, Abbotsford, B.C., passed away on July 13, 2008 at the age of 94 at MSA Hospital. He is survived by his wife Erika (nee Neumann), children Raymond (Gisele), Elmer (Patricia), Luetta (Jerry) Priebe, Alfred (Betty), grandchildren; Julie, Sofie, Christopher, Debra and Cheryl, and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Maria and Peter Wiensz, and brothers Peter, Henry, John, and Alvin.
Gerhard was born on November 26, 1913 in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. He moved to B.C., and married Tina (Katie) Derksen on March 16, 1939 in the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church. Until 1953 he operated the family farm on Browne Road, while also working as a Fireman at the Vedder Crossing DND Base. After 25 years of service with ALCAN, Kitimat, Gerhard retired at the age of 63, and resided with Erika in Clearbrook, B.C., enjoying the company of family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Henderson Funeral Home, 34537
Marshall Road, Abbotsford, B.C.
Interment to be held at the Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery.
