Gerald Russel MOLLEKEN

June 26, 2008

MOLLEKEN,

GERALD RUSSELL

It is with deep sadness we announce that our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away in William's Lake BC June 26, 2008. in the arms of his loving wife Bernadette and surrounded by loved ones.

He was born Oct 10, 1950 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He moved at a young age to Regina, Saskatchewan with his father and mother Russell and Ethel (Sunny) Molleken. He worked with Greyhound in Winnipeg, Manitoba for a few years before returning to

Regina to work for Greyhound and later for the Regina Fire Department. At age of 30 he ventured out to British Columbia where it was here a year later he met his wife Bernadette and he married into an instant family. 4 children and 1 grandchild. Like a fish to water he was a natural. A perfect fit.

Gerry's passion was Curling. He held several executive positions at the Mission Granite club. He also coached Junior Curling and for Special Olympics coached floor hockey and curling. He also received the Dr. Lucas Memorial Award for his outstanding contributions to the Mission Community. Representing the Mission School District at the Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland School Bus Rodeo on 3 separate occasions won in the large bus category.

Gerry had just recently retired from the school district (where he loved driving the handicap bus) sold their home in Mission, BC., bought a motorhome and spent their first winter enjoying the southern USA.

Life was cut short for us but memories will continue to live on through the hearts of his wife Bernadette, two daughters Rhonda Hold (Michael) of Edmonton and Roseanne Rissanen of Mission; two sons Ronald Rissanen (Charlene) of William's Lake and Colin Rissanen (Vonda) of Abbotsford. 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grand- children; Sister-in-law Jeannette Laberge (Jim); Brother-in-law Robert Mayer (Lena); John Mayer (Linda) and Omer jr. Mayer (Sylvie) all of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Many nieces, nephews. He had so many wonderful close friends to numerous to mention.

He was predeceased by his parents Russell and Ethel Molleken; Auntie Ann and Uncle Grant; father and mother-in-law; Omer and Marie Mayer; brother and sister-in-law Eric and Jeanne Morphy; and Joseph Laberge.

Nothing surpassed the love for his family. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. Even though it is sad to have lost someone so special and close to our hearts, it is a greater happiness to have had those countless memories together.

Services will be held on Saturday July 12, 2008, at 1:00: pm Northside Community Church 33507 Dewdney Trunk Rd. Mission BC.
