Peacefully passed on to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 17, 2003 at the age of 74. Gerry is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 26 years, one brother, Wilf, four sisters, Evelyn, Audrey, Lynette, and Dorothy, his six children from his first marriage (Verna Heske), Darrel (Tami), Dale (Dinae), Ralph (Kathy), Donna (Eric), Randy, Jewel (Richard), fourteen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. All will miss him dearly. Mary's relatives, as well as Gerry and Mary's friends share in the sadness of Gerry's passing after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's.
Born in Crestwynd, Sask., on September 28, 1928 Gerry left the family farm to attend Briercrest Bible school in the late 40's. He moved west and settled in the Vancouver area in the early 50's and raised his family there. He had resided in Abbotsford since 1989. An avid sports fan, a poet, a quiet guy with a clever sense of humor, a quick wit, a mind for the mysteries of life and a man of God, Gerry will be remembered with love by his family and friends.
Memorial Service at Bakerview Church, 2285 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21.
