March 22, 2021
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts the family of George Vennard announce his passing on March 22, 2021 at the young age of 99 ½ years.
He leaves so many to grieve his loss especially his wife of 73 years Min, his children Judy McMillan, Ted (Beth) Vennard, Rob Vennard and Kim Callander, his four grandchildren; Elissa (Cory) Zeitner, Dustin (Sara) Vennard, Sarah Callander, and Shane Callander and his great grandson Braxton Zeitner. Not to mention the nieces and nephews who adored him. He was so proud of his family and a sparkle came into his eye when he saw or spoke to each and every one of them.
Dad worked as a mechanic all of his life in the Fraser Valley. He owned Westgrove Esso in Aldergrove, followed by Vic's Esso in Abbotsford.
He excelled in 5 pin bowling and competed in many tournaments throughout the Fraser Valley, including on TV at the PNE in Vancouver many years ago. His name is on the wall at Galaxy Bowl in Abbotsford for scoring 450 (a perfect score).
One of his accomplishments he was so proud of was the Abbotsford Legion Girls Softball team he coached with Mom. They coached the girls from the first year they began playing until the last year when they reached the age exemption. Those years with the same group of girls created so many special memories.
His other pursuits were golfing, fishing and taking the family camping.
He was also a Golden Eagle member of the Abbotsford Fraternal Order of Eagles #2726, an accomplishment not many get to achieve.
As a family we would like to thank Ancora Housing Society, each and every one of you special people, for helping us keep Mom and Dad safe. And thank you to Bevan Village for the kindness and love you gave to Dad during his short stay with you and for your continuing care of Mom.
In his later years we would say "I love you Dad" and he would reply to us "Yep" and wave his hand or pat us on the back.
So on behalf of Dad, to everyone who loved and is going to miss this quiet, humble but colourful man, we say.........YEP.
