George was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Saviour in Abbotsford, BC after a courageous battle with cancer. George was a loving, family man who devoted his life to loving his Lord, his family and to hard work. He was a man of integrity. His smile encouraged many lives. He was born to George Jacob and Helene (Stobbe) Toews in Brandon, Manitoba, and has lived in the Fraser Valley since 1937. He leaves behind his loving wife Elfrieda of 57 years, children; Pearl Irvine (Chilliwack), George H. (Lori) Toews (Abbotsford); and Robert (Erlean) Toews (Sherwood Park, AB), grandchildren; Jackie (Jeff) Elander (Chilliwack), Vanessa Toews (Calgary), Josh (Kayla) Toews (Sherwood Park, AB), and George, Kristi, Melissa and Karen Toews (Abbotsford), and 6 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 29th at Immanuel Fellowship Baptist Church, 2950 Blue Jay St., Abbotsford, BC.
