Beloved husband for over 66 years to Luella; loving father of Sharolyn (Joe) and Donald (Vivian); grandfather of Peter, James, Amanda, Benjamin, Danielle, and Thomas and honorary grand-dad to Paula and Michael. Great-grandfather of Adam and Carolyn. George was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Saskatchewan and then British Columbia as a boy. He was the second youngest of the seven children of Samuel and Susanna, and the last to join his siblings in Glory. George owned and operated Richards Electric in Vancouver where he was known and appreciated as a fair and honest businessman. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Vancouver and served as a deacon and a choir member for many years. After moving to Abbotsford, George and Luella joined the Bakerview Mennonite Brethren Church. Amateur Radio Station VE7BMJ is now a silent key.
The family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the loving care George received at the Christine Morrison Memorial Hospice, c/o Mission Memorial Hospital 7324 Hurd St. Mission B.C. V2V 3H5. To all the “earth angels” there, our deepest heartfelt appreciation. In lieu of flowers, donations to this wonderful hospice are requested by the family.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Emerson Park Estates Clubhouse, 2475 Emerson St. in Abbotsford, B.C.
