Garry Edward … passed away peacefully at the Douglas Fir hospice Unit embraced by his daughter Jacqueline and surrounded by the dedicated and loving nurse, Beryl and nursing staff after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, July 22, 2006.
Garry is predeceased by his wife Regina Sofia Wallace on Dec. 5, 2004 and is survived by his daughter Jacqueline; granddaughter Kia; sisters Elaine (Walt) of Tucson, Arizona and Marguerite (Harvey) of Victoria, BC, as well as an endless amount of extended family and friends. Garry will be remembered for being a respected businessman in his hometown of Mission, BC, as well he will be remembered for his dedication to his community, his sense of respect for others and his drive for sportsmanship, which was dear to his heart. Garry's love for golf, baseball, skiing, gardening and his dedication and enjoyment with his family, especially the bond he shared with his granddaughter Kia, the love, friendship and care they shared for each other is what most should strive for in this lifetime. Memories were shared over the last weeks of his life with those who were dear to his heart. Towards the end of Garry's life he found peace and comfort knowing he would be reunited with his wife and soulmate of 42 years, Regina Sofia, in a loving embrace in the glorious landscapes of Heaven.
To honor Garry's final wish a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Service, 1211 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made in memory of Garry Wallace to the Douglas Fir Hospice Unit, c/o the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, 2268 Pandosy St., Kelowna, BC V1Y 1T2.
