Mrs. Frieda Toews (1919-2008)
Frieda Toews, (nee Isaak) born December 31, 1919 in Russia passed away peacefully in the Coaldale Hospital in the presence of family members on October 25, 2008. Frieda’s passing fulfilled her heart’s desire to be with her Heavenly Father.
Frieda is survived by three daughters and two sons, Bruno (Helen) of Lethbridge, Marian (Henry) Reimer of Coaldale, Richard (Debbie) of Abbotsford, B.C., Naomi (Dennis) Searl, of Chemainus, B.C., Beverley (Paul) Patterson, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren Frieda is also survived by two sisters, Catherine (John) Froese of Abbotsford B.C., Agatha Dueck of Minnesota, and three brothers Frank (Sally) Isaak Abbotsford B.C., Jake (Irene) Isaak Niverville Manitoba, and Peter (Hildegard) Isaak Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Frieda loved her Lord Jesus above all else. She demonstrated this by giving of her gifts in the service to care for those whom she met. She believed her actions would reflect the face of Christ to those around her. Indeed, her home was always open to a great many women who would visit with her as she carried on in her daily tasks. Along with her husband (Isaac, pre-deceased), Frieda placed a high value on volunteering. Indeed, it was often said of her that she worked harder after retirement from years of faithful service as an aid at the Menno Home. For more than ten years, Frieda faithfully gave of her gifts in preparing meals three times a week at the Clearbrook Golden Age Society. In addition, she knit virtually countless baby sets, socks, toques, and vests, donating them to MCCBC. But above all else, she placed the highest value on her family, ensuring that each of her children understood what it meant to offer their lives in service to Christ and his Church.
Viewing will be on Friday, Oct. 31 in the Chapel at the Woodlawn Funeral Home on Clearbrook Road at 9:00 – 10:30 AM followed by interment at 11:00 AM, the funeral service at Bakerview MB Church at 1:30 PM, pastors Michael Dick and Henry Thiessen officiating.
