Fredrick Thomas BOYD

Fredrick Thomas, passed away at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC on December 5, 2005 at the age of 94. Predeceased by his sisters Nora (Beattie) and Kathleen (Prest); his brother Lawrence; and son-in-law Glenn Ellwood. Lovingly remembered by his wife Ethel; daughters Helen (Russ) Clinton of White Rock and Patricia Ellwood of Mission; grandchildren Wade, Bryce (Patricia) and Geoff Clinton, Louise (Bevan) Rempel; Georgia (Ken) Rempel; great-grandchildren Stuart, Ruark and Gavin Clinton, Jordan, Gabriel and Annika Rempel; brother George Boyd; nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Fred was born September 9, 1911 to Sam and Emily Boyd in Lillooett, BC. Spent most of his life in his favourite Caribou Country, Clinton BC before retiring to Surrey, BC in 1980. Married Ethel (Christen) June 27, 1936 in Vancouver, BC. Celebrated 69 years together this year. His first job was lighting the stove at his school house before school began. At 13 started driving truck with his father. In 1931 began a family business, Boyd’s Garage and Transport from which he retired in 1967. He served for several years on the Village of Clinton council as Mayor and Alderman. Began the first power plant to serve Clinton. Enjoyed travelling to the north, especially Alaska, Yukon and the NWT. Loved fishing, hunting and walking in the country. His Green Lake cabin was his favourite place to enjoy with family and many special friends. His passion was hockey. Played, coached and managed the Clinton Blue Birds for over 30 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will remain “forever and a day” in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 - 28th Avenue, Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
