Freda Enns

March 28, 1919 – February 17, 2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is now resting in the presence of her Lord. Freda was born the eldest of 4 children on March 28, 1919 in Melitopol, Russia, and emigrated to Canada with her family in 1925.
It was in Beaverlodge, Alberta that she met and married Nikolai Enns on July 7, 1939. In 1946 they moved to Gem, Alberta and farmed there until 1958. Their next homes were in Chilliwack and then Abbotsford in 1989.
In December, 2008 Mom moved to Terrace East at Menno Place so that she could lovingly care for her husband in the Menno Home. God blessed Mom with a gentle, caring, loving nature that encompassed her family, whom she loved dearly, her many relatives and her friends. Her gifts of hospitality and service have touched many lives. She enjoyed travelling and her many years of volunteer service at M.C.C.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years Nick, her sons Ed and Phil, her daughters Eleanor Kasdorf and Lil (Chris) Bartel; her grandchildren Karen (Craig) Mobius, Vikki (Paul) Bosa, Vern (Dee) Kasdorf, Denise (Greg) Baier, Jeff Bartel, Glen (Kari) Bartel, and 14 great grandchildren. Also by her brothers John (Anne) Braul, Henry (Mary) Braul, sister Agatha (Abe) Wedel and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by daughter-in-law Deanna Enns, son-in-law Art Kasdorf, and her sister-in-law Agnes Braul.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 10 am in Maclure Road Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Road, Abbotsford at 11:30 am.
