RODE; Frances

August 5, 1926 - October 18, 2016

Frances Rode, age 90, passed away peacefully and will be dearly missed. She is joined again with her husband Arnold who passed in 2013. Frances will be lovingly remembered by children Janice (Gary), Doug (Arlene) and Tim (Eleanor), 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Frances (nee Jenkins) was raised on a farm in Alberta along with two older siblings Richard and Mary. She took nurse training in Edmonton and met Arnold when he was her patient in Grande Prairie Hospital. They married in Ponoka in 1950 and moved to Abbotsford in 1952 where Arnold owned an Esso station and later a Shell station. She gardened, canned, cooked, was active in the United Church and was a great friend and neighbour to many. She returned to nursing part-time at the Menno Hospital. She enjoyed camping, boating, reading, square and line dancing. After early retirement, winters were spent in trailer parks in California and Arizona and summer travels included trips to the Maritimes and Yukon. The family is grateful to the staff at the Menno Care Home for the excellent care she received during her last few years. As she requested, there will be no formal service.
