On Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. our Heavenly Father took home our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Evalyn Groot, at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her children, Jack (Jeanette) Groot of Edmonton, Evelyn (Peter) Bakker of Edmonton, Gordon (Linda) Groot of Calgary, Fennalies (Pier) Riemersma of Agassiz, Tina Fischer of Surrey, John (Rena) Groot of Cochrane and Shirley Bird of Kamloops; twenty grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; sister, Anna (Bill) Dykstra, Abbotsford; brother, Gerben (Grace) Dykstra, Edmonton; sisters-in-law, Jane Dykstra, Abbotsford and Joukje Dykstra, Waterdown, Sjaan Groot, Lies Rustenburg, The Netherlands; brothers-in-law, Piet Vriend, Abbotsford, Cor Svieder, Bainbridge, Sim Antuma, Edmonton; many nephews and nieces. Evalyn was predeceased by her husband, Pieter and granddaughter, Sharon Elaine Groot.
Visitation will be held on May 20, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack, B.C. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. from the Free Reformed Church 45471 Yale Road, Chilliwack, B.C. Pastor Hans Overduin officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to Word and Deed Missions or the Kidney Foundation will be gratefully accepted.
