Eugenia (Jeanne)
Born July 20, 1922 passed into the presence of her Lord peacefully in her 82nd year on Monday, December 13, 2004, at Marwood Extended Care Home in Langley, BC. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Albert William Johnston, in 1996; her parents Steve and Lena Kolson; and her brothers, Ben and Eddie Kolson.
Jeanne grew up in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and even a part of North Dakota. At 16 she moved from home to finish her high school education. During WWII, she joined the RCAFWD in Winnipeg where in the fall of 1940 she met her future husband at the Crystal Palais. She married Albert on Dec. 19, 1945, and moved to British Columbia in 1952.
Jeanne was very active in her community as a Cub Master for ten years, a Sunday school teacher, and an active church member for her entire life. She enjoyed painting, drawing, reading, writing, gardening, and farming. She enjoyed everything relating to nature, especially beautiful flowers. She loved being with her children and cherished her grandchildren.
Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her six children: Shannon Stewart (Norm Rowell); Bill Johnston (Barbara); Laura Jeanne Scott (Leslie); Katy Worth (Dan); Bob Johnston (Christine) and Michael Johnston (Bonnie); 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hallmark, MSA Hospital, Magnolia and Marwood who have cared for Jeanne in the past few years.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will take place on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 3:30 pm. at the Langley Masonic Temple, 20701 Fraser Hwy, Langley, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice.
