Mar 27, 2018
As morning broke Gene looked up to the heavens, blue filled the sky and a brilliant yellow sun appeared on the horizon. The waters were calm and the fish were biting as he sailed away.

Eugene (Gene) Kuna passed away in the late evening of March 27th, 2018, at the age of 80.

Gene was born and grew up in Abbotsford, living in the Fraser Valley most of his life. He was an astute businessman who was involved in the bowling business for 27 years, starting with Alder Lanes in 1965, Scottsdale Lanes in 1972 and Willowbrook Lanes in 1982.

He eventually retired in June 1992 at the age of 55 and went on to enjoy his greatest love, which was fishing. He enjoyed annual trips to Langara Fishing Lodge for 30 years, and also worked there as a guide for the past 15 years. Gene also fished locally, and shared trips to his property on Galiano Island with many of his family and friends.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife Filippa, daughter Kathy, brother Julian, niece Carrie and nephew Michael, as well as numerous relatives in the Ukraine. Gene also leaves behind many close friends and extended family members. We will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the Rancho Banquet Hall, 35110 Delair Road, Abbotsford, BC 604-853-2346.

A special thank you to the entire staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital from the ER through to Palliative Care for all of their care of Gene and his family.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Pacific Salmon Foundation #300-1682 West 7th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6J 4S6 salmon@psf.ca (Designated for Chinook Salmon Enhancement) would be appreciated.
