KLASSEN, ESTHER

Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, morning, November 11, 2008. Esther was born September 20, 1932 to Bernhard and Anna Derksen of McMann, SK. She was the sixth of eight children. At a young age Esther received Jesus as her personal Lord and Saviour. She attended the Dalmeny Bible School

Esther married Lawrence Klassen on September 21, 1952 in Mullinger, SK. They made Saskatoon their home. They were blessed with two children, Ken and Judy. They moved to Winnipeg, MB in 1959.

In Winnipeg, she waited until her children were teenagers to become a nurse's care aid in Abbotsford in 1989 prior to retirement. Esther cheerfully used her gift of hospitality in her local church. Esther and Lawrence enjoyed nine winters in Desert hot Springs, Ca. Esther loved to read and carefully researched her growing medical and health challenges.

Esther was predeceased by her parents, her sister Bertha Stobbe, brothers Sam Derksen and Arnold Derksen. She is survived by her loving husband Lawrence Klassen, son Ken (Bev) Klassen, daughter Judy (Curt) Treadwell, grandchildren Jalene (Brian) Davies, Caleb (Erin) Klassen, Dean Hedman, Danielle (Mitch) Hedman, great grandchildren Ethan and Aubrey, sister Anne Koehn and brother Harry (Shirley) Derksen, many nephews and nieces.

Celebration of life and faith will be on Saturday, November 22nd at 2 pm in the Youth Center at Seven Oaks Alliance Church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
