It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erwin Becher on December 15, 2018 at Abbotsford Hospital with family by his side.
Erwin was born on January 14, 1931 in Bern, Switzerland and came to Canada in 1952 with his wife Martha. Erwin was the eldest in his family of five children. He is survived by his 4 siblings Daniel, Rudy, David and Lillian, who all reside in Switzerland.
Erwin will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Martha (Hugi) and 6 sons, Dan (Donna), Roland (Colleen), Ralph (Loraine), John (Allice), Lawrence (Patricia) and Dave (Trish). He was loved by his 11 grandchildren, Char, Chad, Jennifer, Amy, Robert, Darrel, Amanda, Josh, Blayke, Nicole and Robyn. He is also adored by 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Erwin was a hard worker and had a career in metal and wood working in various parts of BC and eventually ended up settling in the Aldergrove area. Erwin loved to hike, snow ski and mountain climb, Manning Park and Mt Baker being his favourites. Later in life he developed a love for carving with wood and stone and designed some beautiful pieces.
Erwin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, co-worker and friend. He had a quiet but strong faith and we know that he is resting in the presence of our dear Saviour.
