ISAAC, Eric Robert

August 23, 1925 - October 4, 2014


Eric Isaac, longtime Abbotsford resident and Legion member, passed away at age 89, in his sleep, at Maplewood House. A special thanks to Dr Pauls and the staff for the care and comfort they provided Eric during his stay. He leaves to mourn, Grace (Heppner) Isaac, his loving wife of 68.5 years, daughters Laura Munn, Kathleen (Thomas) Schoen, granddaughter Sophia Schoen, sister Alice Hale and numerous other cherished family members. Reunited with deceased son Douglas and siblings Peter, Frieda and Nettie. Born in Feodorfka, Russia, Eric emigrated with his parents as a toddler to a farm in Lucky Lake SK. Joined the RCAF in 1943. Before retiring at the rank of Major, CO of Nanaimo Military Camp, Eric had been stationed from the Yukon across Canada to Montreal, as well as serving in Metz France and Lahr Germany during the cold war. After the military Eric joined the civil service with DOC and Corrections Canada. His many passions included golfing at Ledgeview, astronomy, communications from Morse Code to wireless, tinkering with gadgets and listening to the Divine Liturgy. A celebration of life will be held Monday Nov 10, 11am, at Cascade Community Church, 35190 Delair Rd, Abbotsford. Light refreshments to follow.
