1911 - 2008

Emalyn Burns (Conrad), a very special lady, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2008 with family at her side. Predeceased by her husband Jack King and four siblings. Emalyn is survived by her son David (Sally) King; granddaughters Mary (Rick) Cormier, Liz (Jim) Simpson, Kirsti King; grandson David MacIntosh; 6 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; her sister Maida Christner; nephew Millard (Asami) Christner; niece Ella-May (Dick) Green and many other nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly. Emalyn had a full and wonderful life. Her vivacious personality was appreciated in all communities where she lived, Olds, Vancouver, Chilliwack, and the past 25 years in Abbotsford. B.C. Among Emalyn’s accomplishments she was an independent businesswoman, owning first Suzettes Ladieswear in Vancouver and then Jennifer’s Ladies Apparel in Chilliwack. She was a lifetime Soroptimist, and a choir member at Calvin Presbyterian Church. Emalyn loved to play the piano, travel, she was an avid reader, rockhound and horticulturalist. Above all, Emalyn (Soozie, Grandma, Auntie) cherished her family and friends. She touched many lives and will lovingly be remembered by all.

A gathering to honor and cele­brate Emalyn’s life will take place on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11:00 a.m., Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2597 Bourquin East, Cres, Abbotsford. In lieu of ­flowers donations may be sent to Soroptomist Foundation Canada, P.O. Box 2525 Station Main, Chilliwack, B. C. V2R 1A8.
