Mathers, Elizabeth Rita (nee Johnston) passed away peacefully at her home on December 10, 2002.
Betty was predeceased by her mother, Irene Ebert in 2000, father, Ralph Johnston in 1939 and husband Don in 1985.
She was born on September 12, 1926 in Vernon, B.C. At the age of 19 she moved to Abbotsford which is when she met Don, her husband of 40 years. She spent the rest of her life in Abbotsford and was well known in the paint sales businesses of Mills Paint and Cloverdale Paint. She and Don were of the pioneer Mathers family of Straiton on Sumas Mountain. They spent 40 years living across from the Straiton Community Hall and were both actively involved in the community.
Betty will be sorely missed by her friends and family. She will be lovingly remembered by sons Gordon (Margo) of Vernon, Randy (Doreen) of Abbotsford, as well as her grand children Graham, Blair, Callum, Stuart and her sister, Beryl of Abbotsford.
A Memorial Ceremony will be held at the Straiton Community Hall located at 4598 Sumas Mountain Road on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined by request. Please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Betty's memory.
