BENSON; Elizabeth (Betty)
Betty, a longtime resident of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 with her children at her side. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband, John, her parents, Sam and Rachael Doucherty, her brothers, Victor and Joe, her sisters Jenny and Rosalene, sisters-in-law, Eva and Jody, and brother-in-law, Johnny. On her husband, John's side, Betty was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Gene, Fred, Eric, Brian, Joe, Doug (Disney) and Bill, her sisters-in-law, Avice, Thelma and Beth, and her niece Sharon. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jonni Lee Benson and Pamela (Robert) Hubley of Abbotsford, Carla (Daryl) Collins of Kelowna, Cathy Benson-Jestin (Ryan Jestin) and Steve Benson of Calgary, AB; 7 grandchildren, Tony (Allie), Ashley, Shayley (Dan), Richelle, JJ, Shelby, and Adrian; brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug (Leona), Ray (Anthea), Joy, Vera, Pat, Garth (Pat); also nieces and nephews. Elizabeth's passions in life were her children and grandchildren, travel, trying new adventures, puzzles and for some unfathomable reason, frogs. Mum will be remembered for her laughter, her stubbornness, her kindness and empathy and her honesty. Everyone who entered her home became family. She will be remembered by her children as the kindest and bravest soul on this earth and now in heaven. A special thank you to all who brought joy in to her life. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 12 noon at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford, BC. Online condolences can be left at:
