KRIEGER (McAllister)
Eileen May Krieger (nee McAllister) passed away peacefully in Mission, BC on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the age of 82 years. She is predeceased by her father Malcolm, her daughter Cheryl, her mother Florence (nee Duthie), her stepfather John Morrison, her daughter Debbie Mattson, and her sister Marie Cunningham (Sonny). Eileen will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years John, her son Mark, her son-in-law Neil Mattson (Susan), her sister Isabelle Hawkins (Rae) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Eileen was born in Mission and lived in Mission for most of her life except for a short time in Edmonton when her and John were first married and in the early 1980's when they co-owned and operated a shake and shingle mill in Pemberton. She grew up on her parent's dairy farm on Nicomen Island, with her two sisters Isabelle and Marie. They survived the great flood of 1948 and many other adversities which faced those pioneering families. She went to grade 1 to 8 at Nicomen Island School, and then to Dewdney School for her high school years, where she eventually graduated in 1945. She met her husband to be, John in 1945 also, and they were married in March of 1949. Except for a short career in the candy department of the David Spencer Department Store (Mission) in 1948, Eileen has been a wife, a mom and a homemaker and was unsurpassed on all accounts. Her greatest achievements in life was caring for everyone around her, before herself and never wanting anything in return.
Eileen will be greatly missed by all of those; whose hearts (and stomach's) she touched. She created the best apple pies.
A Celebration of Eileen's Life will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, 32840 Janzen Avenue Mission, BC, (southeast corner of Cedar St. and Cherry Ave.). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.
